We are now recruiting for the exciting role of Digital Manufacturing Engineer,to be involved in prospecting world changing technology by developing meaningful relationships with some of largest entities across the globe.

Job Purpose:

The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for development and deployment of new digital manufacturing technologies and systems for the RR SMR and assisting in the operational running of manufacturing systems in operational environments. They will assist building maturity, and continuous improvement of digital manufacturing systems covering people, process, and tools to a point where they are ready for production implementation to the RR SMR factories.

The role will require strong collaboration across the wider ME and SMR IT teams to capture requirements and continuously improve the look and feel of the digital systems covering all aspects of manufacturing technology, methods and processes execution to support the successful manufacture and assembly of modules within the RR SMR modules factory, and site factory operations for module connectivity, as built, and configuration data capture.

Key Results & What Can Be Achieved in The Role:

Achievement in this role will be measured against on-time and on-budget delivery of digital manufacturing technologies and systems projects to the required level of maturity, and ability to influence SMR IT delivery to support programme milestones. These projects will deliver the digital tools and supporting rules that are essential for the successful production of RR SMR modules, and power stations.

To do this, the successful candidate will be involved in the operational performance, and support of manufacturing operations across various RR SMR facilities, Supply Chain, and Partners including demonstrator programmes ran by the MCA team to mature manufacturing technologies, skills, and define best practice for people, process, and tools for continuous improvement.

The Key Selection Criteria:

  • Proven ability to develop, deploy and support manufacturing digital systems into factory and supply chain settings. Using structured approaches to problem solving and a continuous drive for improvement.
  • Demonstrates that product and process safety is of paramount importance through assuring products through design and manufacture, complying with all applicable legislation and codes of professional conduct.
  • Proven ability to define, plan, monitor and control projects, programmes, and work packages, ensuring the work is delivered to cost, quality and schedule while communicating this complex technical information in a simple and effective way.
  • Proven ability to collate and validate user requirements, understand the implications for the components of a Digital Manufacturing System (People, Process and Tools), define interfaces and data flows through the use of mapping tools and to describe business and end user implications of a Digital Manufacturing Systems implementation within a business and define test procedures to mitigate the implications.
  • Ability to integrate well within a project team in a commercial environment. This will include working in collaboration with external partners and suppliers.

Qualifications & Training:

  • Professionally Qualified Engineer in a relevant discipline
  • Experience working within an engineering business familiar with the manufacture of nuclear heavy industry products (or similar high regulation industries; Aerospace, Oil & Gas, Defence etc.)
  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience with relevant stands and codes, such as ASME etc.
  • Working knowledge of CAD software programmes; Ideally Siemens NX, Auto desk etc.
  • Manufacturing/Factory/Machinery design experience especially discrete event simulation (DES).
  • Confidence in implementing/defining a strategy for manufacturing computer aided engineering (model-based definition, stage models, factory layouts, cell designs etc.).

Pay and Benefits

We anticipate paying a salary of between £42,500 - £52,500 plus:-

  • Bonus - Performance related bonus of up to 12.5%
  • Benefits Allowance - £2200, enabling you to create a bespoke package
  • Pension - 12% employer and 6% employee contributions.
  • Holidays - 28 days holiday (+ public holidays) and the ability to buy or sell up to 4 days
  • Private Medical Insurance - BUPA single cover health care
  • Life Assurance - 6x pensionable pay
  • £250 - One-off payment for new starters for home office purchases
